Visiting Conjoint Associate Professor, Dr Thomas Linden will deliver a public talk entitled “Digitization and innovation in Swedish health care transformation – The e-health 2025 strategy” at NeW Space.

Dr Linden is a Swedish physician, a specialist in neurology and psychiatry whose clinical and scientific focus is emotional and cognitive consequences of neurological disorders. He is Director/Chief Medical Officer of The National Board of Health and Welfare in the Department for Knowledge-Based Policy of Health Care, Sweden and has contributed to the establishment of the Swedish national structure for knowledge-based direction of the health care system.


Sweden is at the forefront of health care underpinned by new technology. The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs has a bold 2025 vision to be global leaders in eHealth,” Professor Michael Nilsson, Director, Centre for Rehab Innovations (CRI) said.

“Their aim is to make it easier for people to achieve good and equal health and welfare, and to develop and strengthen their own resources for increased independence and participation in the life of society”

“There is a lot of us to learn from Dr Linden and we look forward to welcoming him,” Professor Nilsson said.

Dr Linden is a MSc in epidemiology and public health and has been a clinical leader for many years. He has twice been elected to the board of the Swedish medical association and been part of as well as chaired its ethics board for many years. He did his post-doc at the Australian National Stroke Institute and is still a visiting professor to the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health in Melbourne, as well as a conjoint associate professor to the University of Newcastle.
